About us
Missions
Eurocord organization aims to promote the advancement of scientific academic and industrial research, the development of therapeutic applications and dissemination of knowledge related to the umbilical cord, placenta, annexes and more generally all that is within the field of materno-fetal interactions.
The goal of Eurocord organization is to unite around the same project, researchers, biologists and clinicians working on stem cells derived from cord blood, placenta and its annexes, to promote national and international collaborations and disseminate knowledge in this field through its site Eurocord-ED.
In order to expand this research Eurocord seeks for public and private partnerships.

- Placenta: collection of stem cells, pharmacology
- Family banks in families when a child has been diagnosed with a disease curable by stem cell transplant a focus will be put on the following diseases: Sickle cell disease, diabetes, hereditary non-hematologic diseases
- Optimizing conditions for the collection, cultivation and preservation of cells
- Retrospective studies of hematopoietic stem cells transplants from umbilical cord blood
- Prospective studies of methods of facilitating the engraftment
- Design phase I II studies for gene therapy from umbilical cord blood of children with hereditary disorders collected at birth for ex Sickle cell disease.
- Phase I trials of cell therapy for non-hematological diseases eg diabetes, bone, cartilage diseases, arteritis.
